La sostenibilidad en PALLAY: compromiso con el medio ambiente y la Comunidad

Sustainability at PALLAY: commitment to the environment and the community

In a world where climate change and unbridled consumption are at the center of conversations, at PALLAY We believe that it is possible to make a difference through sustainable practices that respect both the planet and people.
Since our beginnings, we have had a firm commitment to the environment and to the high Andean communities with which we work.
But what does it really mean to be a sustainable brand?
Here we tell you how we do it at PALLAY.

1. Natural and local fibers

Every PALLAY garment begins with a careful selection of raw materials. We use natural fibers such as alpaca and sheep wool, sourced from the Andean regions of Peru. These fibers are known not only for their quality and softness, but also because they are renewable, biodegradable, and have a low environmental impact. Unlike synthetic materials, natural fibers decompose naturally and do not generate plastic pollution.

2. Natural dyes, colors of the earth

The dyeing process at PALLAY is completely eco-friendly. We use natural dyes extracted from local plants, roots, flowers and seeds. These dyes are not only environmentally friendly, but also result in vibrant and unique colours, which cannot be replicated with synthetic dyes. For example, cochineal , an insect that lives on cacti, is used to obtain shades of red.

3. The empowerment of 140 women weavers

For us, sustainability does not only encompass the environmental, but also the social. PALLAY works with more than 140 women weavers from high Andean communities in Cusco. These artisans keep alive the ancestral technique of the backstrap loom, which is passed down from generation to generation. By purchasing PALLAY products, you support these women, providing them with a fair source of income and contributing to the preservation of an ancient cultural tradition.

4. Artisanal and low-impact production

Each garment we offer is a unique piece, handcrafted with dedication and time. This way of working not only avoids polluting industrial processes, but also reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions. By focusing on artisanal production, we avoid excess inventory and wasted materials.

5. Slow fashion: towards conscious consumption

At PALLAY we align ourselves with the slow fashion movement, which promotes a more conscious and responsible consumption of fashion. We want to invite our customers to move away from the fast fashion culture, in which garments are discarded after a couple of uses, and instead, opt for durable, high-quality and meaningful pieces. When you buy a PALLAY garment, you are not only taking home a unique piece, but also a piece of Andean history and tradition.

Our commitment to the future

At PALLAY, we are committed to continually improving our sustainable practices. We continue to explore new ways to minimize our environmental impact and maximize the well-being of our artisans. We believe that every decision we make, from the choice of materials to the production process, has an impact on the planet and people. And we are proud to contribute to a greener and fairer future.
