WE ARE A BIC COMPANY!
At PALLAY we have acquired the Collective Benefit and Interest Society (BIC), which reaffirms our triple impact purpose through sustainable practices aligned with the SDGs of the global compact:
- 8 Decent work and economic growth.
- 12 Responsible production and consumption
We are proud to be one of the few Peruvian companies that are BIC companies (as of January 2023 there are only 18 registered companies).
Through our work, we are committed to creating shared value, positively impacting 3 key aspects:
SOCIAL – CULTURAL: Preserving the ancestral technique of the backstrap loom that is part of our cultural identity as Peruvians. 15% of our weavers are young people under 30 years old, promoting the passing of knowledge from generation to generation.
ENVIRONMENTAL: Textile processes such as spinning, weaving and warping are carriers of ancestral knowledge and are harmonious with the environment. The colors are based on natural dyes made with flowers, cochineal and roots.
ECONOMIC: We economically benefit 50 weavers from 3 high Andean communities through their textile knowledge.
Being a BIC company also guarantees a framework of transparency, where we must produce an annual, publicly accessible report that certifies the actions carried out to comply with triple impact.
At PALLAY we continue to join forces to “connect the high Andean culture with the world.”
